from one of the smartest people i know:

    my advice for now is to do something that feels right and good at a gut level, whether it advances your “career” or not. no disrespect, but you don’t have a career yet. and that’s good. that’s great. you have time to explore and figure things out and decide what you really like and what you’re really good at, and where you want to live, and how you want to live, and all the other things that seem to calcify as you get older. so seize that opportunity, if in part because it’s something you can control, though that’s hardly the only good reason.
